One thing that definitely needs managing is paper. With taxes due in a few short months, now is the time to sort the piles of paper in your home. Paper organizing can be time consuming! So, here is our “no-brainer” list of 15 items you can immediately toss or shred: Get rid of the paper you don’t need so you can more easily manage the paper you do need.
- Articles or clippings you have not read in 3 months
- Expired coupons
- Instructions for items you no longer use
- Invitations to past events
- Junk mail
- Last season’s catalog (I promise they will send you another)
- Solicitations from charities (they will also send you another)
- Expired warranties and service contracts
- Old greeting cards
- Old tourist & travel brochures
- Magazines more than 3 months old
- Unread investment and banking brochures
- Recipes you have not tried in 2 years
- Poor quality photos
- Old road maps (or repurpose as gift wrap)
This is also a great time to try to put a halt to the endless barrage of junk mail. It took a few months but eventually, she was able to eliminate a large portion of the mail she had to manage in her home
